WHAT SEE

Assisi

Perugia is the capital of Umbria, with its Etruscan walls, Piazza IV Novembre with the Fontana Maggiore, the Cathedral and the Palazzo dei Priori.

Today it is a well-known cultural center of the region, thanks to its universities, in particular the famous University for Foreigners.

Assisi is certainly the most important destination in all of Umbria, as it was the birthplace of San Francesco, patron saint of Italy. Unesco has declared the entire city and the Franciscan places World Heritage Sites.

Gubbio also this city is closely linked to the name of the Saint: here Francis took refuge from Assisi and tamed the wolf.

TRADITIONAL CUISINE

Umbrian cuisine is made of simple and natural ingredients, linked to its traditions, where the undisputed protagonist is undoubtedly the truffle of which there are about seven varieties : from black to white truffles, particular mention is made of the Norcia black truffle.

For meat lovers , the flagship is the pork which thanks to the skill of the butchers is transformed into delicious sausages or tasty hams and salami, to be enjoyed with the typical bland bread: Try the cheeses , the aged pecorino. and fresh or seasoned goats.

The lentils of Castelluccio di Norcia are a tasty ingredient for soups, they have obtained the Igp (protected geographical indication) from the European Union.

Then the Dop oil and fine white and red DOC wines, among which we remember the Assisi Grechetto and the Sagrantino di Montefalco wine.
