WHAT TO SEE, DO, COOKING AND TYPICAL CUISINE

Sardegna is the most beautiful island in the middle of the Mediterranean, of incredible beauty due to its untouched nature. Undisputed protagonist is the sea with the Costa Smeralda. Those who prefer the mountains will be able to explore the region of Gennargentu with its rich flora and fauna: chamois, Golden Eagles, Sardinian deer and many species almost to extinction. For a holiday of history you can visit the “Nuraghi”, ancient towers built of large stone blocks. The most famous is the complex of Barumini placed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
The provinces of Sardinia are: Cagliari (capital), Carbonia-Iglesias, Nuoro, Olbia-Tempio, Sassari, Oristano, Medio Campidano, Ogliastra.

Cagliari, where to admire the numerous colonies of flamingos in laguna, the Castle, the Church of Saint Eulalia.

Alghero with the caves of Neptune, the ramparts and the promontory of Capo Caccia. Villasimius with two seas, beach of Porto Sa Ruxi and Punta Molentis.

One of the first areas to be seen is definitely the Maddalena archipelago with the “seven sisters“, the main islands of the archipelago of the Maddalena, National Park with its waters rich in life for diving enthusiasts.

Caprera island where Garibaldi lived, turned into a House Museum.

The island of Budelli, wild and uninhabited, with its lovely pink beach that owes its color to corals and shells.

Stintino, offers endless possibilities for recreation from golf to hiking and diving, bike rides or horseback; the Pelosa Beach, Torre Falcone and the Saline.

TYPICAL CUISINE

Main ingredient is wheat, which produce the famous carasau bread, used as a basis for the famous dishes such as malloreddus, culurgiones and fregola.

To tasteis also the grilled suckling and suckling pig, suckling pig served on trays made of Cork covered with Myrtle branches. Among the fish dishes, lobster dish, bottarga of Cabras and the tuna of Carloforte, the zuppa di clams and spaghetti with sea urchins. Cheese pecorino is greatly appreciated.

The wines are of excellent quality: Vermentino di Gallura or Cannonau. Very good is also the Myrtle liqueur.

WHAT TO DO

La Maddalena, is an ideal destination for sailing holidays with its rich natural inlet and suction cups Islands landings or diving tours, also offers horseback riding and mountain biking, not to be missed is the hike in the Asinara National Park, between the colonies of white donkeys in the wild or the long trek themed itineraries , bicycle, horseback riding on horses born and bred on the island.
Gennargentu, with its wide mountainous area of outstanding beauty, offers the possibility of trekking, skiing among the reliefs of Bruncu Spina, one of the highest peaks or excursions to archaeological sites.
