The Abruzzi spring was the most beautiful in Italy

It’s in the the centre of the Italian peninsula, between the sea and the Apennine mountains, which includes the highest peaks. Beach tourism made famous cities like Giulianova, Montesilvano, Pescara, Teramo, Penne, Pescara, Ortona, Lanciano e Vasto. The centre of the country is interestes by winter tourism with Roccaraso, Pescasseroli and Scanno. Italian and foreign tourists are invoked even by the beautiful nature reserves of the Abruzzo National Park, the Parco del Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and Majella, where native plant and animal species such as the Golden Eagle, the Wolf and the brown bear.

The provinces are: L’Aquila, Chieti, Pescara and Teramo.

Abruzzo

Sulmona is rich in monuments and art, is a thriving handicraft activities. It is famous for its “confetti”.

Castel di Sangro, dominated the Colleggiata dell’Assunta is an architectural centre of the 13th century with two portals, Renaissance one and Romanesque one. Tagliacozzo, on the slopes Monte Bove, is known for its ancient mansions.  Abruzzo is rich in beautiful isolated churches such as the Church of San Clemente a Casauria or San Giovanni in Venere, Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta or San Pellegrino Bominaco.

TYPICAL CUISINE

Abruzzo cuisine reflects old traditions. Among the most famous dishes you find the “spaghetti alla chitarra”, the “stumps”, polenta, “gnocchi with cheese and eggs”; among the second dishes there are roast lamb, goat, sheep and mutton kebabs, cooked sheep, while the coastline’s famous “fish soup”; dishes made with truffles, the “scorzone”, pork sausages. Among cheeses there is the “marcetto” (pecorino fermented with milk). Among the most famous flavors you remember saffron of L’Aquila. The most famous wines are Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo. Among the desserts are famous the confetti of Sulmona, the” Ferratelle”(sweet waffles with eggs and anise) the chestnut and chocolate nougat, typical of the Aquila city.

Tourists are attracted mainly by the landscapes and by artistic beauty. For nature lovers there is the National Park of Abruzzo Lazio and Molise that host the Apennine Wolf, Abruzzo chamois and marsican brown bear.  Don’t miss the shrines, squares and villages of Tagliacozzo, Scurcola Marsicana and for sports lovers in the foreground there’s definitely skiing, Alpine and cross country skiing, famous are the slopes of Campo di Giove, Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore, Ovindoli, Scanno. Other activities include trekking, jogging and horseback riding.
