New York is the city of dreams, the destination of dreams. The place where everything seems possible. New York is a promise of love, the quintessential American dream that has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world, inspiring artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians for generations.

What makes New York so special?

The story – full of legendary events and characters: from the clash between the Dutch and the Native Americans to the era of skyscrapers, up to global finance.

If I told you “film” what would you answer? Or rather, how many scenes are buzzing in your head… a lot, admit it! Among the films and TV series, the list is very numerous because they all immortalize the Big Apple, offering various photographs of a powerful city full of a thousand facets… all absolutely wonderful.

New York is a desired, awaited destination, sought after by many and when you manage to get there, it pays off right away.

The first feeling you’ll have as you step off the subway or taxi is one of familiarity. The emotion will be a mix between: “Wow I’m finally here!” and the recognition of places.

New York in Movies and TV Series

There are numerous films made (none excluded) that show what New York really is.

“Taxi Driver”, “Manhattan” and “The Godfather” have transformed New York into a mythical scene, a place of crime, passion and ambition, where the characters are in search of their fortune or their redemption.

Romantic films, such as “When Harry Met Sally” or “Sleepless in Seattle”, which show the city as a place of the heart, where love can be born among skyscrapers and luxury shop windows.

How can we fail to mention “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and Audrey Hepburn’s legendary scene in front of the amazing Tiffany window? For all women, and not only, when you arrive in New York a stop at Tiffany’s is almost a must.

And then there are TV series such as “Friends” or “Sex and the City”, which have made the neighborhoods of Manhattan, SoHo, Greenwich Village and the Upper East Side famous, making them symbols of a youthful and lively life.

Backpack and get ready to get lost in the streets of Manhattan, photographing the skyline from the Brooklyn Bridge, walking for miles in Central Park, the heart (in the true sense of the word) of the city. It seems almost absurd that a frenetic city like New York also known as “The city that never sleeps” has an oasis of peace in the center, where you can stroll peacefully even if you might have to move because of the many runners who choose Central Park for recover from work stress.

The Empire State Building is probably the most famous skyscraper in New York City and possibly the world. With its 381 meters of height it is among the tallest skyscrapers in the world and has been proposed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

The Statue of Liberty, nicknamed Lady Liberty, is an enormous statue (93m from ground to torch tip and 46m from pedestal surface to torch tip) that towers over the Hudson River harbor entrance from Liberty Island in New York City, welcomes all who come to the US. It symbolizes the dream that becomes reality, the arrival and the restart.

Times Square, one of the most famous squares in New York City. Living heart of the city, you will find excitement, color and without any problem, raising an arm you will be able to stop a taxi ready to accompany you to discover the city.

Wall Street, located in the borough of Manhattan, is home to the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange (the New York Stock Exchange or NYSE). It represents the center of the financial district of New York; the term “Wall Street” refers to the entire complex of the US financial industry. Once there, you will find men and women all “dressed” with handbags and documents running to enter these glass buildings, perhaps sipping a good American coffee in a hurry (perfect Starbucks style).

No matter what your style, age or passions, New York has something for everyone.

If you love art instead, the countless galleries and various artists will give you the right bread for your teeth.

The city offers some of the most prestigious museums in the world, such as the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where you can admire masterpieces by artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Warhol. New York is also the city of street art, full of murals and graffiti scattered on the streets of the city’s coolest neighborhoods, such as Bushwick and Williamsburg.

If you love shopping you might have problems: you have so much choice especially among the prestigious luxury boutiques on Fifth Avenue, or the vintage shops of SoHo and the flea markets of Brooklyn.

Fashion is also an art form in New York, in fact Fashion Week is held every year, an unmissable event for fans of the sector where you can exclusively admire the new collections of the most famous designers in the world.

Musical New York

A city with an immense music scene, with its legendary clubs such as CBGB’s and the Village Vanguard, where some of the greatest artists in history have performed, from Miles Davis to Bob Dylan.

New York is also the city of jazz and blues, with clubs like the Blue Note and Birdland offering live entertainment every night of the week.

Many songs speak of this immense city and describe the power, the area and the sheer power it emanates.

NYC food

And then there’s the food. New York is the city of the culinary melting pot, you can taste dishes from all over the world, from Neapolitan pizza to Middle Eastern falafel, from Japanese noodles to Jewish bagels.

But the city is famous for its hot dogs. Since 1871, when sausages were served inside a sandwich for the first time in Coney Island, the hot dog immediately became one of the city’s symbolic foods: cheap and quick to eat. Indeed, you will easily find carts in the corners of the city that mainly give off the smell of fried onion.

Also try the cheesecakes and cupcakes or bagels. Bagels are soft, non-fried donuts unlike donuts which are covered in sprinkles and colored icings (just think of the Simpson family). Bagels come from the Jewish tradition, but have also become an icon of the city, but eat them with cheese, salmon, or simply with butter, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

And then we find him: the hamburger. Then order it in any way and find it anywhere from the most sophisticated clubs to large chains such as “Shake Shack” or “Hard Rock Cafè”.

In short, New York is a city that has it all, and for all tastes.

His magic? The ability to inspire and make people dream, to make the most hidden desires come true.
