Every year, from 0 to 99 years old, we feverishly open the advent calendar window in search of the treat or gadget of the day.

We at Amami Viaggi wondered if, in addition to the classic one, it was not possible to create a traveler’s calendar!

So let’s start our super journey by covering the perfect destinations in the different months of the year. A long journey, full of passion, fun, intense emotions and amazing places. Places made to be remembered and to be experienced not just once.

January

Traveling in the Alps in winter can be and is an unforgettable experience and January is the ideal month to enjoy the snowy landscapes. You can find destinations for all your tastes and needs, such as outdoor activities, skiing at various levels of difficulty, skating or snowshoeing among more traditional mountain resorts and cities of art. Take the opportunity to disconnect from the daily routine and recharge your batteries for the new year.

Don’t forget to prepare yourself adequately to face the cold, wearing warm and waterproof clothes and bringing everything you need to fully enjoy this “excursion”.

February

If it’s cold in Italy, why not organize a trip to the Maldives?

Ideal destination to spend a luxury holiday in February, between the sea and the bright sun.

Located in the Indian Ocean, these tropical islands have so much to offer between white sand beaches and crystal clear water, perfect locations if you love to swim, snorkel and enjoy the sun. Furthermore, February is the perfect time to visit the Maldives: the weather is mild and the islands are not crowded with tourists. Before you go, don’t forget to pre-book an overwater resort or private island so you can make the most of your vacation.

March

Don’t always think of the hot sun somewhere in the world or the snow in the mountains, but think of a different, spectacular and bewitching half: go see the Aurora Borealis in Iceland and Norway.

The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon which consists of an anomalous luminosity of the atmospheric regions caused by the impact of charged particles from the Sun.

In Norway and Iceland, March is the best time to see this spectacle.

The Aurora Borealis are usually visible in Norway and Iceland during the night hours, when the sky is clear and cloudless. In March, the climatic conditions are generally very favourable. The duration of the auroras varies according to the intensity of solar activity, from a few minutes to a maximum of an hour, with a play of colors between green and red. Sometimes it is also possible to see yellow, pink and purple.

The advice is to move towards rural areas, away from city lights to see everything better. In any case, the Aurora Borealis is an unpredictable phenomenon, it is always better to prepare yourself for one or more observation nights, to have more chances of seeing it.

April

Japan in spring is one of the perfect destinations if you love flowers and nature, but April is the ideal month. Indeed, the country is awash with cherry blossoms, known as “sakura” in Japanese.

Cherry blossoms are an iconic symbol of Japanese spring.

Another reason to visit Japan in the month of April is the mild temperature, between hot days and cool nights.

If you want to see cherry blossoms, Kyoto is the most atmospheric city where you can admire the flowers both in gardens and along the banks of the rivers, but don’t worry, cherry blossoms can be seen all over Japan.

Japan isn’t just about cherry blossoms, it’s also the perfect time to attend traditional Japanese holidays and festivals. Among the most famous is the Yokohama Drum Festival, where you can watch ancient Japanese drum performances and participate in drum workshops. In addition, you can visit Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples or explore the historic districts of Japanese cities, gardens, customs, you can discover the customs and Japan’s great respect for tourists.

May

Two perfect destinations in this period: Peru and Sharm el Sheikh.

Peru, in May, is a great idea for an adventure-filled holiday with hot and dry weather. May gives you the chance to explore the wonders of the country, such as the famous ruins of Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca.

In spring you can also participate in the colorful local festivals. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and a hat with you.

Sharm el Sheikh definitely closer destination, is a perfect summer destination if you love the sun and the sea. During May, the temperatures are warm and the water of the Red Sea is crystal clear, absolutely perfect for snorkelling and diving. Activities to do are numerous in Sharm el Sheikh, such as visiting the local markets, taking a quad bike ride or an excursion into the desert. Instead, at night Sharm el Sheikh also offers a wide choice of bars and discos where you can have fun until late at night.

June

He returns to Italy in the summer. June is the perfect month to enjoy beautiful Italy with generally mild temperatures, sun, art and sea.

The choice is very varied, if you love the sea between the islands: Sardinia and Sicily you won’t be able to choose.

Even the sea of the Amalfi and Cilento coast makes you choose and the choice is really difficult. But Italy is not only sea and good food, it is also a lot of history and art.

The most visited cities are Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples, but the list is really long. Planning a holiday in Italy is truly the perfect gesture to pamper yourself.

July

Africa in July – perhaps planning a nice safari – is really the perfect solution.

Obviously it is not a journey like any other, but it is a journey of adventure, contact with nature in all its primordial essence.

It is a journey where we witness the struggle for survival, between predators and prey for the maintenance of the species or for the control of the territory. The deserts of Namibia, the rainforests of Uganda, the South African bush, the great plains of Tanzania or the Okawango delta in Botswana, these are some of the destinations you could reach for a safari in Africa.

August

You don’t need to fly too many hours and go far to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant stay.

Fly to Spain and decide whether to stroll on the Rambla in Barcelona or take a dip in the splendid waters of Mallorca. The island of Mallorca makes it an ideal holiday destination for beach lovers, with water sports and a lively nightlife.

Or Ibiza, which has always been a super popular destination for the majority of young people thanks to super clubs such as Pacha and Ushuaia which host international DJs, but there is also crystal clear sea and beaches of all types.

Greece is like a “big house” that really welcomes everyone thanks to its many islands. Crete, for example, among the largest islands in the Mediterranean, is welcoming, free …. to go all around!

but also Rhodes and Mykonos are no less, all destinations also suitable for families.

Croatia with Dubrovnik has an incredible charm between history and wonderfully blue water.

Move to France, Nice with its wonderful beaches and excellent food is a chic destination to say the least, in fact it is a very popular destination especially for its Côte d’Azur.

September

Experience to do at least once in a lifetime? Bali!

The island of Indonesia in this particular period of the year offers you a tropical climate spread throughout the entire territory. During the month of September, the days are less hot than in other periods and much less humid as for example in April. Absolutely to plan is the excursion on the Agung volcano which will really take your breath away for the beauty of the panorama that can be enjoyed from the “mother” mountain, as renamed by the inhabitants.

Bali also offers dream beaches and snorkelling. The most beautiful place where you can combine your passion for the sea and snorkeling is in the Gili Islands, defined as three small paradises by the Italian edition of Lonely Planet.

October

New York is the ideal destination to avoid the sultry heat of summer and enjoy milder temperatures. October is also the period in which the leaves of the trees change color and the landscape becomes even more suggestive.

Want to do some shopping? Yes, this is the perfect time to find great deals during New York Fashion Week. Or if you’re interested in cultural events, don’t miss the New York Film Festival or New York Comic Con. New York is power, life, the city that never sleeps, you will find tons of things to do while you grind kilometers and kilometers without realizing it.

Don’t forget to take a walk in Central Park to admire the beauty of New York’s autumn. And after so much walking, enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate in one of the many cafés in the city.

November

Mauritius is a wonderful destination any time of the year, but November could be the perfect time. Temperatures are still warm, ranging from 26°C to 28°C. Famous for their beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and water activities, it is also an ideal destination for nature lovers, with numerous national parks and nature reserves to explore.

December

Cold, snow and colored lights… what are you thinking about? Of course, at Christmas time.

A very popular period for you who love to travel and get lost among the Christmas markets, from the north to the south of Italy and from the Tyrol down to Arezzo. Even in Europe, you can find splendid places like Vienna, Bruges, Budapest… where the color of the lights is lost in a glass of hot mulled wine.

Even the falling snow with its magical touch makes us travel towards Abruzzo (Roccaraso) or even climbing up to the Dolomites with Cortina d’Ampezzo.
