It borders to the west with the Marsica, to the south with the Molise, and to the east with the Frenato-Alto Vastese, to the north with Vestina and Aquilano. The main municipalities are Sulmona, Anversa degli Abruzzi, Castel di Sangro, Corfinio, Introdacqua and Scanno.
