WHAT TO SEE, WHAT TO DO, CUISINE AND TYPICAL TASTINGS

MOLISE is located in the central -southern side of Italy, between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea. This little known region offers nature, history, art, traditions and gastronomy.  National Park of Abruzzo Lazio and Molise, offers unspoilt landscapes. Two are the most important ski resorts in the region: Campitello Matese and Capracotta. The see offers sandy beaches with Mediterranean vegetation, characterized by a clear and clean sea awarded with the Blue Flag.
The provinces are: Campobasso e Isernia.

WHAT TO SEE

Campobasso is rich in history and culture from which towers, the Castle Monforte and the Provincial Museum Sannitico.

Isernia with its fountain of the 13th century and the ancient prehistoric area.

Agnone, famous for the production of bells for the most important churches in the world bachelors.

Pietrabbondante, the land of bagpipes with its beautiful theatre.

Sepino, with the ruins of the Roman town Larino.

Termoli, a tourist resort and port, with the impressive Svevo Castle and the Romanesque cathedral.

Venafro with Pandone Castle, the Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral and archaeological finds from the Roman and pre-Roman.

Campitello Matese is, one of the most famous ski resorts of Central and southern Italy.

TYPICAL CUISINE

Typical dishes in Molise are based on the products of the land and farming. Main first disches are “maccheroni alla chitarra”, “pallotte” with cheese and eggs, pasta with beans, polenta, roasted lamb and the turcinelli, made up of lamb innards and offal. The extra virgin olive oil, tartufo di Isernia and durum wheat pasta, cured meats, including the “saggicciotti”.

The local wines are the Biferno and the Pentro.

WHAT TO DO

Molise is definitely recommended for a relax, sports and excursions. You can go trekking in the protected areas of Abruzzo Lazio and Molise National Park or in the WWF oasis of Guardaregia-Campochiaro between woods, streams, ravines and waterfalls. A nice experience is the path along the “Tratturi“, the ancient streets of transhumance characteristics of Molise.
